My Story
Support my marathon run for the children.
On 2nd of October 2022 I will run a whopping 26.2 miles in the London Marathon, having not being able to run even one mile just 3 ½ years ago. I need your help to raise £2000 for a charity that helps vulnerable children find adoptive families. Your support will not only be the motivation to keep me going, but will genuinely go towards providing an essential service for children in need of care.
I have chosen this charity as adoption has been part of our lives for many years and a subject that is close to my heart. Back in 1994 our Mum and stepdad fostered our brother Aaron aged 18 months who had been in the care system since birth and then adopted him into the family aged 6. This took away the uncertainty of foster care and gave him a forever home.
Then in 2011, my sister began fostering a premature baby who we grew to love. It seemed only natural that she later adopted her into her family along with her 5 birth children, and I am so proud to be her Auntie and God mother.
Friends and strangers often comment on what a wonderful thing it is that my sister adopted a child, and say that the child is so lucky, but we are the lucky ones and feel blessed to have her. Our whole family has been enriched through adoption.
I can only hope that in raising money for this worthy charity, many more children will similarly find their forever families, and that likewise, many more families get to experience the blessing of adoption.
About PACT (Parents and Children Together)
In March 2021, 80,850 children were in the care system. 2,870 were adopted with a further 3,600 waiting to be adopted. It can take up to 3 years for a child to be adopted as there simply is not enough funding to support identifying and assessing suitable families. This is where you can help.
PACT, Parents and Children Together, was established in 1911 and is now one of the UK’s leading charities in its field. PACT is dedicated to placing children in secure and loving families, providing continued support through therapeutic services, as well as empowering disadvantaged women and assisting the recovery of children affected by domestic abuse. Without doubt, this is an invaluable service, but they need your help.

‘My Family’ by Luke aged 6
I came with my problems - they helped me solve them
I came with my memories – they listened to them
I have my differences – they liked them
I brought my love – they shared theirs with me.
