My Story

I have worked as a Physiotherapist at Bournemouth Hospital for over 18 years and after so many years of trying to get a place through the ballot I am really excited to have been selected this year to run in the London marathon and represent our Hospital Charity Team. It is such an honour and will be a very proud moment for me to represent the NHS, especially after the last couple of years working frontline during the pandemic. It means a lot to be able to give something back to our local hospitals.

Last year I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to climb Ben Nevis in order to raise money for the Walkabot Appeal. We were successful in raising the £365,000 needed and the Walkabot arrived on the Stroke Unit at Royal Bournemouth Hospital in October 2021 and I have seen first hand was a huge difference it is making to the recovery of the stroke patients in Dorset.

I am passionate about helping patients start their intensive rehabilitation as early as possible. That is why I have opted to raise money specifically towards 2 robotic tilt tables (one for Bournemouth ITU and one of Poole ITU). These tilt tables use robotics to enable patients to start moving their legs whilst being slowly raised into a vertical position, stimulating their nervous systems and engaging their cardiovascular systems. This will allow patients to start their recovery even earlier and reduce the amount of time they spend in hospital.

I am asking people to kindly donate towards this fantastic appeal and help to make a difference to the recovery of so many people across Dorset. I know times are tight financially for everyone, but every donation, no matter how small adds up and will really make a difference to this fantastic appeal. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will keep all my supporters updated on my training and progress towards my target of £2000.
