My Story

HELLO!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm running the London Marathon on 2nd October 2022 and I'm hoping to raise £1500 for The Book Trade Charity. I would love your support, and any donation is very welcome. This will be the first marathon I've run, so any words of encouragement or tips are also appreciated - thank you!

The Book Trade Charity is the support charity for everyone working in the UK Book industry; in publishing, bookselling, distribution, bookbinding and conservation. They provide financial aid and housing for those who need it most, particularly those facing difficult personal circumstances and those who are new to the industry.

With the rising cost of living, there has never been a more crucial time to support the charity's brilliant work to ensure that those in crisis are supported to thrive in an industry that we all love. Your donation will be acknowledged and very gratefully received, and will help:

  • Put food on tables and heat homes for those in crisis within the industry
  • Provide subsidised housing for those in need
  • Fund education and training to help younger people enter the book trade
  • Support initiatives that encourage reading among younger people
  • Cover training and living costs for post-graduate degrees
  • Cover interview costs (e.g., travel, subsistence and overnight accommodation) and membership fees (e.g., for The Society of Young Publishers)
  • Support paid internships – travel, subsistence, rent and general living costs

Your donation will also enable The Book Trade Charity to continue to provide regular and one-off grants that they are able to turn around for those in need in days, not weeks.

BTBS drives positive change and are a springboard for hundreds of colleagues and applicants from all corners of the book trade and from all walks of life. Crisis does not discriminate.

Thank you everyone in advance for your support, and please do come and watch the marathon if you're able - all cheerleaders welcome!
