My Story

Hi everyone,

As many of you will know, I am running the London Marathon in a little under 6 weeks time on Sunday 2nd October 2022. For those of you that didn’t know, I’m sure you are delighted to have been spared my regular accounts of all the early (oh so early) training runs, the chaffing and the lost toe nails (really).

I was incredibly fortunate to get one of the illusive places available through the London Marathon ballot, which means that I am able to raise money for a smaller charity that may not otherwise get to benefit from big fundraising events like these.

So I have decided to fundraise for a local charity called Small Acts of Kindness. Small Acts of Kindness is a charity which looks to reduce the negative impact that feeling lonely and isolated can have on an older person's physical and mental wellbeing, as well as having a special interest in helping those who struggle to stay warm in their home. They do this by sourcing and distributing practical items and information, working with over 350 volunteers and 90 partner organisations. By connecting communities with kindness, the charity has so far reached over 60,000 vulnerable, older people.

For more information on the important work done by Small Acts of Kindness, please go to their website at www.smallactsofkindness.co.uk or follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Of course, I know that everyone has increasing demands on their disposable income at the moment but, especially as we go towards a difficult looking autumn/winter for many people, any money that I can raise to support the work that Small Acts of Kindness do to help some of the most vulnerable and isolated in our community would be so greatly appreciated.

Any donation you can make would be fantastic, and will definitely help motivate me as I get into the final few weeks of training and I contemplate losing the feeling in my toes forever! Thanks you!
