My Story

Monica Baker

There are lots of reasons to run a marathon. I have personally run 16 marathons, but none of them has meant more to me than this one. I am running for a very special cause…International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN). So many children are needlessly suffering around the globe – the biggest problem they have is not having access to medical care that could help address this suffering. I am hoping that by running the London Marathon I can help bring awareness to this special cause – ICPCN and the suffering kiddos it represents.

As a mother of four and an elementary school teacher, the training for a marathon by itself requires a major commitment of time, energy and sweat. I just recently ran a 17 mile training run and I was not sure I would make it; in fact, I almost passed out multiple times. Thinking about ICPCN and the kids and families I am running for definitely helped me pull through and will help me stay inspired as I train for and run the London Marathon. Please partner with me as I run as a charity runner in support of ICPCN! It is such an honor to run in support of this life changing organization for a mission I am so passionate about. See you at the finish line.
