My Story
I work in health and social care and know the importance of the work St Nicholas Hospice provides to our community. During the pandemic the hospice lost a lot of revenue through cancelled events and it is important we continue to raise much needed funds. I have suffered from covid-19 in 2022 and since then I have struggled to get fit again and long covid means I now have to take running and fitness at a much more steadier pace. What once I took for granted I could do is now much harder, of course I am a year older too. St Nicholas Hospice offered me the place on the 4th July so I have some time left to train for a sensible Galloway running strategy fitness programme.
My inspiration is Des and Sasha Talbot. Des was a friend of mine and sadly died from cancer. When doubting my fitness her daughter Sasha said "if my mum can do it with cancer, you can" My race will be dedicated to Des, my patients and of course St Nicholas Hospice.
