My Story

Wanting a challenge for the year, as I find I need something to aim for when I'm trying to get fit again, I considered what different types of events there are. Having previously cycled both the length (this was over 10 years ago though!) and breadth of the UK, and last year canoed the width of Scotland along the Caledonian Canal (but I got to sit down for that!) I decided that it really had to be some kind of running event before I get too old!!

Now I really need to point out, I am definitely not a runner! At most I would do a reluctant 5km once a year and not enjoy it at all, so this is going to be a challenge for me but one that I am looking to do properly.

I chose to run for The Outward Bound Trust as I have been fortunate enough to be able to enjoy outdoor activities both growing up and throughout my adult life. Being outdoors really does help me mentally and activities I've done over the years have taught me so much that I thought it would be great to pay it back. Their mission is to inspire young people to defy their limitations so they become strong, resilient and curious, ready for the challenges of life.
