My Story

In October I am thrilled to say that I’ll be running the London Marathon (yes, all 26.2 miles of it!) for a charity that’s very close to my heart — The National Autistic Society.

The National Autistic Society is the leading charity for autistic people and their families in the UK.

Eight years ago, after a series of fertility struggles, my husband and I resorted to IVF in the hopes of starting a family. We were blessed and overjoyed with our first miracle baby, Jacob, born in 2015 and later by our triplets, Joshua, Joseph and Harry, born in 2017.

Alarm bells first started to ring when we noticed that Jacob wasn’t hitting his developmental milestones, and at four-years-old he was diagnosed with autism. History felt like it was repeating itself when Joseph and Harry also began to miss key developmental milestones and in 2021 they too were diagnosed with autism.

My husband and I are immensely proud of what our boys have achieved and the challenges they have overcome since their diagnosis. We remind them of how proud we are and how much we love them daily.

Raising autistic children can be very challenging and I have had to learn a whole new way of parenting. In moments of despair — and looking for advice on how to get the boys the support they need — I have called the National Autistic Society and they have been an amazing source of support, advice and guidance. I feel hugely privileged to be running the London Marathon for such a great charity and hopefully help them raise some much needed funds so that they can continue to help other families like mine.

Any donation will be greatly appreciated!

With thanks
