SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity

I’ve lost my marbles!

My Story

SSAFA was a charity neither me nor my family knew much about until April 2018.

My cousin had just joined the RAF and was stationed down at RAF Halton. He was out for the day when tragically he was involved in a car crash.

Laurence was in the front passenger side of the car which was wrapped around a telegraph pole. He was rushed to hospital and put into a medically induced coma and remained in a coma for 3 weeks.

You never expect something like this to happen to you until it does.

We were told he may have to learn to walk and talk again if he did manage to pull through and we feared what his future might look like.

Thankfully a few years on and Laurence defied the odds and survived and lives to tell the tale.

SSAFA supported my family and Laurence throughout the whole process and we saw first hand how much of a lifeline their help was!

I would love to be able to give something back in order for them to continue their amazing work and I thought what better way than by running the London Marathon.

I can't wait to find out just how truly unfit I am, but if anyone would like to sponsor me along the way it would mean a hell of a lot to me and my family!
