Southmead Hospital Charity

My Story

This year I’m taking on two big challenges, the London Marathon and the UK IRONMAN, to raise money for Southmead Hospital Charity in memory of my Uncle Dave who was cared for in the hospital, as well as some super-inspirational friends who work there.

Me, Dave and the family - Sept, 2021.

The Challenges

The London Marathon is a 26.2 mile run and my first proper marathon, and the UK IRONMAN is a monster 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 'finishes' with a 26.2-mile run, walk or crawl (it says that in the terms and conditions – for real!).

You may know that I completed the Ironman last year so this will be easy, right? Well, you are wrong. In many ways, it makes it worse!

Firstly, I publicly promised that I would never do it again.

See. It was my first words!

Secondly, I know how tough it is and what horrors await me (and I’ll have to live knowing that even more horrendous photos like the below will continue to exist)

Finally, I was firmly sat on my buttocks with absolutely zero ‘New Year New Me’ motivation this January… and subsequently, I have a much bigger mountain to climb!

So please, if you can spare a pound or two, sponsor me and help this wonderful Charity continue to do its amazing work for the people of the South West.

Your Donations

Every day and every night, thousands of people across the South West and beyond need urgent, expert medical care from the NHS in Bristol. With your help, we aim to be there for every single patient, every step of the way.

The charity uses donations across five critical areas: patient & family wellbeing, staff wellbeing, ground-breaking research, new equipment and enhancing buildings & spaces. – making a direct impact on the one million patients we treat every year and in short, provide what the NHS can’t.
