My Story

Hi, I’m Indy and I am so excited to run the London Marathon for the University of Bristol and supporting Healthy Minds.

Bristol holds a special place in my heart as it was my home for 6 years. I had some of the best times of my life and also some of the hardest. In a new city, away from friends and family, stresses over study and social influences; many of my friends and flatmates faced various struggles with mental health at some point during our university years.

The Healthy Minds charity started after I graduated and though support was available through doctors at student health, I’m certain if Healthy Minds had been around it would have been provided invaluable additional support.

I really believe in the importance of exercise for happiness , motivation, general well-being, confidence and self esteem. To me, exercise gives me a sense of achievement , makes me feel proud of my body which in turn makes me want to treat it well; whether that be the way I think about myself or choosing healthy foods to fuel it. It gives me goals and motivation outside of work and is always a stress buster. A short run outside (particularly with friends) is an instant mood booster.

I hope by taking on the epic challenge of the London Marathon that I can help support students suffering with poor mental health and encourage anyone to get out for some exercise to feel good when things are tough. Yes it’s hard (a lot of the time) but it is always worth it!

So please help me raise £2000 for Healthy Minds so I can run the London Marathon this October. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join me on some training runs and I promise you will finish smiling. :)
