My Story
I have always enjoyed running as a hobby and to keep myself fit for my other sports, so last year I set myself a challenge to run a half marathon, in which I did in August in Solihull. I enjoyed the challenge and it felt so rewarding. So this made me apply for the London marathon when I saw the opportunity to be a part of the team for Racing Welfare, as I thought it could be my next challenge and a great opportunity to raise not only money but awareness for such a unique and valuable charity.
Overall though I am fundraising for Racing Welfare because the horse racing industry is at the heart of our family and our home where we have a busy thoroughbred stud. Therefore I know that those who work in this industry put there heart and soul into it day in day out, there is no other charity which is there to help and support them. This support is in many forms including in both physical and mental health, which includes a 24hr racing support line.
Especially after the effects of the pandemic, Racing Welfare has been committed to ensuring that the work force of their industry can access mental health and well-being support services when required , free of charge and without lengthy waiting lists.
Therefore I not only want to raise money for this charity but awareness of the crucial services they provide.
