My Story

Hi,

We are Emma & Louise. 2 friends that started running together last year and decided to take on the London Marathon challenge, raising money for Brain Research UK, which is a charity whose work is particularly close to our hearts.

We saw how our fundraising directly enabled new research and we wanted to take on the challenge again this year for a cause that means so much to us.

Louise’s Story.

In 2019 I suffered an unexpected seizure which unfortunately led to the diagnosis of a grade 2 diffuse astrocytoma which is a rare form of brain cancer found mainly in young adults.

This tumour always unfortunately develops into a glioblastoma where the survival rate at grade 4 is only roughly 18 months post diagnosis.

Running has been a massive part of my recovery and has become my therapy to help me cope and deal with my emotions.

Last year we ran the marathon and raised an incredible amount of money for Brain Research UK
The money we raised was directly invested into a research program to help find a cure for my type of tumour, specifically trying to find a treatment to stop these tumours developing to grades 3 or 4.

Your donations last year have had a massive impact directly linked to my own illness! Please we ask you once again to kindly help and donate to this amazing charity!

Running a marathon is a massive challenge & huge commitment. We found out last year that it comes with many ups and downs, injuries and set backs but we are determined and we hope you can get on board with our journey and support us as we push ourselves to get to the finish line. We promise to drag our arses around 26.2 miles of London once again for this incredible cause.

Every donation really counts no matter how big or small. We appreciate all the support we receive & it absolutely boosts our motivation to get through the months of training ahead!

Thank you so much xxx
