My Story

This year marks the ten year anniversary of my darling mother, Sue Blake, passing away from a brave battle with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a type of leukaemia which is aggressive and progresses quickly. How she managed to fight the big C with such humour and grace I'll never know. In fact, I'll never forget her roaring laughter when she still managed to thoroughly beat me at a game of cards just a few weeks after her bone marrow transplant. She was a diamond.

According to Cancer Research UK, someone is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes.

Every two minutes, yet another family's lives are changed forever.

It doesn't need to be this way.

To remember my mum in style this year and raise much-needed funds to help us turn the tide on cancer, I've decided to go BIG and run the London Marathon for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, a world-leading cancer centre.

The Royal Marsden in Sutton gave my mum the majority of her cancer treatment and supported her, and us her family, with grace and kindess throughout. It holds a special place in my heart and I've donated to them almost every month for the past ten years.

This year, I want to go one big step further and raise over £2000 to support the incredible work of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. They are at the forefront of revolutionising cancer treatment and work tirelessly to ensure that their nurses, doctors, and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

If you are able to donate to my fundraising effort this year, I would be so bloomin grateful and thankful to you.

With love and thanks,

Em
