My Story

Those who know me will be very aware that I am passionate about perinatal mental health, but not so passionate about running!!!!!!! However, I wanted a challenge so decided to volunteer to run the London Marathon to raise funds for Action on Postpartum Psychosis - a charity which I work closely with in my role as a perinatal mental health nurse. I was successful in obtaining one of APP's  charity places and  thought "what on earth have i done"!!!!!!!

I am determined to do this and hopefully raise lots of money. APP are an amazing charity for women and their families affected by postpartum psychosis, a severe mental illness which begins suddenly after childbirth. Most women recover fully, but at the time it is a very frightening for women and their families. APP provide vital peer support, patient information, training for professionals , public awareness and research into this illness.

Please help me in supporting this amazing charity. I am in the priviledged position to nurse these women at a very frightening and horrendous time in their life, but to see them recover and enjoy family life with their children.

Training has begun and it's not actually as bad as I thought (I'm not sure I'm thinking that when doing it). The London Marathon is on 2 nd October 2022 so I'd best get my trainers on and start pounding the streets.
