My Story

In 2023 I will be running the Boston Marathon on 17th April and then just six days later I'll be doing it all again at the London Marathon on 23rd April.

Although I've run marathons in the past, I have never managed two within a year, let alone within the same week - so this will be a big challenge for me both physically and mentally (particularly as the Boston course looks tough!). This has required a lot of work and training.

I'm doing this all for a great cause - supporting the Evelina London Charity, part of Guy's and St Thomas' hospital trust in London. The Evelina provides incredible care to over 100,000 children and young people every year. It is a very special place providing comfort and reassurance for both parents and children requiring their medical care.

The money raised will go towards making the Evelina an even more welcoming space, helping parents deal with the prospect of a child needing longer term care, providing research and additional facilities (including helping fund an MRI scanner in the neo-natal care unit).

My wife Catherine and I experienced first hand the incredible care within the Evelina NICU unit when our daughter Abigail was born 6 weeks premature in May 2019 and required medical care. The existing MRI scanner in the Evelina helped diagnose a potential complication late in pregnancy as part of a research programme and then to check on Abigail's progress and development in the weeks that followed.

We'll always be incredibly indebted to the staff and the support we received at the Evelina - and we know that there will be many families, children and young people who will benefit from any donations you are able to share.

Many thanks for your support!
