My Story

The London Marathon in October will be my fourth marathon, but my first London Marathon. I always go to watch and find it incredibly inspirational to see all the runners with their own individual stories and challenges cheered on by complete strangers! Training is going to be tough, the run will be even harder, but I can't wait as London is the ultimate marathon for me.

Globally, 338 million people are blind or have moderate to severe visual impairment, but 77% of this is avoidable.

Poor eye health can make it harder for people to pursue an education, hold a job and lead a prosperous life.

Orbis' mission is to change their narrative. Orbis saves sight by the prevention and treatment of avoidable blindness for nearly four decades. They train, mentor and inspire entire eye care teams so they can work together to save and restore vision in their communities.

My Granny (who sadly passed away in 2019) was troubled with bad sight from an early age, but was lucky enough to have access to fantastic medical care in the UK, which improved her quality of life greatly. She was a long supporter of Orbis, and introduced me to the charity to provide life changing care to people with limited access to care we take for granted in the UK. Above all, I hope to enjoy the 26.2 miles (as much as can) whilst raising money in my Granny's memory.
