My Story

Okay so, 2023 ended up a different way to what we wanted (stress fracture in my foot meaning I had to defer) so I'm back for 2024 with an even stronger reason to run.

towards the end of 2023 we lost the most influential man in my life, my wonderful grandad, words can't quite express how much I love my grandad he was my absolute world.

Grandad had someone from hospice at home come to see him in his final moments to put all of our minds at ease that he was going to pass peacefully and comfortably, which is all you can ask for on someone's final journey. Although the hospice that helped grandad (and my mum as you will read further down) wasn't Saint Francis, the level of care is the same and I want to help other families have the same experience we had. Hospice care is so very important and I will never stop doing my bit to keep it going. So grandad, this one's for you, I want you by my side pushing me over that line 🧡

See below for 2023's story:

Well here we are again, signed up for the marathon, starting the training and giving up the Prosecco (maybe not fully, you can't change me that much and if you see me with a Prosecco in hand, say nothing!!)

I want to do the London Marathon to raise money for a fabulous charity, Saint Francis Hospice.
I am lucky enough to work at Saint Francis Hospice and I get to see the work that goes on, it truly is a wonderful place. It has shown me that this work MUST continue and it is only possible with fundraising support, I want to be a part of helping our hospice to thrive!

Like so many, I have been touched by hospice care first hand when my beautiful mum had her final moments in the comfort of our local hospice. It's only then that you realise how special these places are, they care for not only the patient but also the patients families in their greatest time of need and beyond. They hold out their arms to you to provide help, support, care, love and most importantly time, which is the greatest gift. They are happy places, where memories are made all around.

The hospice allowed my mum to end her journey peacefully and comfortably and that is something that is so special, beyond words.

Hospices will add life and love to your days and I want to be a part of helping that to continue.

The money that I raise will mean that others will be able to take on their journeys with support, dignity and care.

Now let's get over that finish line!!
