My Story

I am running the London Marathon to raise money for the Children’s Burn Trust. They are an amazing small charity that support families who have a child that has sustained burn injuries. They help in numerous ways including financial support for rehabilitation, hospital travel/accommodation costs and specialist equipment/clothing purchases. Family days out are arranged, allowing families to connect and fun filled activities for the children. They produce educational media to raise awareness and help prevent these terrible accidents. www.cbtrust.org.uk

The subject of Children’s burns, is one close to my heart. In December 2019, my step-son Ethan (now 10 years old) was involved in an accident where he was taking part in his school’s Christmas nativity play at the local church. Ethan was dressed as a sheep wearing a home-made costume made out of cotton wool by his mother Kasia. On his way to the stage with the class, the teachers had given several of the pupils lit candles and one of the boys walking behind Ethan, tripped and fell into Ethan setting him alight. Ethan was taken to Broomfield Hospital where he had sustained partial and full thickness burns covering 45% of his body. Ethan was in hospital for several weeks and had skin graft operations, with further operations scheduled soon. Ethan’s body is obviously severely scarred, he continues to recieve treatment, but he is now recovering well and is living a normal child’s life.

I hope to raise as much money as possible for this vitally important charity.

Thanks for your support

Brad
