My Story

I am so excited that I will be running the 2022 London Marathon to raise funds for the amazing Fallen Angels Dance Theatre (FADT). This charity is based up in Chester and exists to support people in recovery from addiction to transform their lives & share the recovery journey with the wider public, through dance, performance and creativity.

This is the second year that FADT have managed to secure a place in the London Marathon, a big thanks to the Chester Lions club who awarded the charity with one of their Gold Bond places! So, I am so honoured and excited to be the one running for the second year on the trot!!

FADT is the only company in the UK providing exceptional dance theatre experiences for people in recovery from addiction. I am so pleased to be supporting this charity as it aims to provide a place where people in recovery are valued, accepted and able to realise their potential. This is achieved through both participation and performance. Firstly, dance workshops, projects and training are provided to help increase self-esteem, confidence and is a platform for achievement. This also allows individuals to build up their social networks in a safe and caring environment. Additionally, through live on-screen and public speaking, real life journeys for and about people in recover help FADT raise awareness and break down barriers and stigma surrounding addiction and mental health adversity.

I believe this charity is making such an important difference to people's lives and doing so in such a positive and expressive way, which I think is truly inspiring! Having started a new job in marketing in the new year, the challenge of running my second London Marathon on behalf of this amazing charity has given me a new fitness focus. I have also been able to apply some of my knowledge from my university study of the biological psychology behind drugs as well as what makes for the effective rehabilitation of offenders, to really understand the mission of FADT and how much of difference they are making.

We are aiming to raise £2000 through fundraising in the lead up to the big marathon day on Sunday 2nd of October, so if you would like to donate then thank you so much in advance!! Every little helps!!
