My Story
I BLOODY HATE RUNNING. AND MY KNEES ARE KNACKERED. BUT I'M GOING TO RUN 26.2 MILES ON 2ND OF OCTOBER AND HERE'S WHY...
Im a proud 'scaley brat'.
Both my Mum and Dad served in the RAF. My Dad doing his 22 and seeing action in the Gulf and I am incredibly proud of both their service.
When my younger brother, Richard was 18 months he contracted a rare and severe form of Meningitis that left him permanently severley brain damaged and needing care for the rest of his life.
SSAFA helped us in a variety of different ways over the years. They raised money for an adapted bike which Richards wheelchair could be attached to and meant we could all enjoy the outdoors together.
They contributed towards a much needed break as a family to an adapted holiday home in Cornwall, which provided much needed respite for a young airman and his family.
And when my parents were able to buy their own property, SSAFA helped with some of the repair costs to make sure it was properly adapted for my brothers needs.
My family has benefitted from the amazing work that SSAFA do for our service personel and their families and I wanted to contribute in some way to pay that back and help them with their continued support and work they do.
