My Story

I will be running the London Marathon in aid of Alzheimers Scotland. I have chosen this particular charity in remembrance of my great uncle Jimmy who unfortunately lost his life in the battle against dementia.

No one should ever have to face dementia alone, it's a traumatic experience for anyone to go through. Imagine, a close relative or friend wakes up one day and doesn't even recognise you.

There is an estimated 90,000 people with dementia in Scotland, with 3,000 of those under the age of 65. As the numbers increase every year, so should awareness and research into the cause.

The fundraising will help to support many different aspects such as:

  • Research into dementia to prevent, care for and cure dementia.
  • Support Nurses, Doctors and 24/7 helpline staff who are working tirelessly round the clock to provide the best help they possibly can.
  • Providing the best possible support to families through the Dementia Advisors who will assist in networking families together in similar circumstances.
  • Engaging local communities to raise awareness and build a wider understanding through Dementia Friends Programme.
